Sync | Technical Consultant | 2012-2015

About Link to heading

Sync was 2 year government funded research & prototyping programme bringing together technology and the creative sector, with the aim to set up a policy roadmap for industry and governement.

I was graciously invited to join as a result of my work in the developer & data communities, and worked alongside an extremely talented individuals from technology, design and production backgrounds. Sync was like a small strategic superhero group for technology and the creative sector.

We were at the forefront of developing cultural and technology industry policy directions for the national government through a range of research and public facing activities.

Culture Hack Scotland

We produced a series of hackathons, sponsored by cultural organisations with data & domain expertise, and attended by a developers, makers and creatives to bring innovation practice into the mainstream and build networks of people.

These events were the centerpeice of our activities, showcasing the amazing work that could be achieved in very short timelines with the right environment and cohort.

Geeks in Residence

One of my responsibilities was to oversee the geeks in residence programme - where we hand picked notable innovators from the community and placed them in arts organisations with a budget an open remit to create.

The approach was playful and the ultimate aim from the collaboration was to help understand the nature of collaboration between the domains of technology from the arts.
