About Link to heading

The passion for photography that I developed during my travelling days continued at university as I started experimenting with film and different genres - specifically journalism, fashion and architectural photography. I love taking pictures because they represent a moment in time, from a particular angle or perspective. For me good photography make you look twice at something ordinary, or help you see something that wasn’t immediately obvious. I’ve always been particularly curious about cultural attempts to separate whats real from our perspective and I think photography at some level challenges that idea. It makes you focus on and question your own perspective - and gives the the opportunity to freeze that moment and reflect on it - in the same way as with statistics & data. If you boil it down - these are just means by which we tell stories to eachother.

I threw myself into photography in my first year at university, and started professionally shooting around a year later. I worked with some amazing clients in fashion and architecture and the press over the next 5 years and had a lot of fun developing my craft and building a reputation for my work.

At some point I decided the ratio of time I was spending co-ordinating with clients and working on administrative tasks vs on set shooting was not quite right for me - and meanwhile I was growing a startup so I decided put it aside while I found it fun. With the introduction of mobile camera phones its a lot easier to document the things around me and I still get involved with some analog photography when I can.

Below is a selection of my work in the areas I gravitated towards - fashion, reportage, portraiture and environments
