About Link to heading

Richard Demarco is cultural institution in Scotland - notable for his prolific photography work documenting an alternative arts history from the 1970’s to present day, inviting internationally renowned artists to Scotland and developing an international art community in his home country.

The university of Dundee had at significant effort over several years digitised his archive but attempts to bring it online had run into some issues - so they approached me to take on the project of redeveloping the site and making the archive more accessible.

I worked with a great friend and talented designer Isaac Grey-Cosgrove. We embarked on an end-to-end service design process to understand the context of Demarco, his collaborators, the project stakeholders and his work to design a beautiful site that captured everything that made it beautiful and unique, which flowed into the technical specifications.

The project had a small budget but I was particularly passionate about helping to bring a treasure trove of cultural material to life, making all the metadata searchable and accessible to a new generation. This project was a joy to work on and I’m very proud of the lasting outcomes.
